Gender & Sexuality Studies Undergraduate Minor

Description: Gender and Sexuality Studies is especially equipped to meet the challenges of our current moment and to shape inclusive and just futures. Our courses open minds and change lives. Our academic program prepares students for careers in a variety of fields that deal with diverse populations as well as sustained political and social change.

Course Delivery Methods: Our minor is part of a robust program designed to incorporate traditional face-to-face instruction and the technological innovations of online instruction. Degree requirements for the Gender & Sexuality Studies major, minor, and graduate minor can be completed face-to-face or online (online courses are offered through Canvas, a cloud-based Learning Management System). Many of our electives are taught both online and face-to-face during fall and spring semesters. All Summer courses are taught online.

Degree Requirements: A minor in Gender & Sexuality Studies consists of 18 credit hours of approved course work in Gender & Sexuality Studies of which at least 12 are upper division (300 level or above).

Departmental requirements for our program of study can be completed on campus and online. Since all core required Gender and Sexuality Studies courses are offered online, the entire degree can be completed as a distance education degree program by working with branch campuses and the Center for Academic Advising and Student Support.

Note: Women’s Studies has changed its name to Gender & Sexuality Studies. Its course prefix (W S) remains the same but will eventually change to the prefix GNDR. Many course titles will be changing as well to reflect the broader focus on genders and sexualities.
